It all started when...
My parents brought home a Texas Instruments TI-99 personal computer in the early 80s. I grabbed the little booklet and started typing in the program "Sprites". My love affair with making beautiful things on the computer had begun.
Fast forward a few decades and several careers, my experiences have been quite diverse, but have steadily led me down a creative and web-driven path. Starting as a small town planning & conservation agent, I helped build a town-wide permit tracking computer system.
From there I transitioned to desktop support at PC Magazine, where I spent my days surrounded by Photoshop whizzes and seasoned writers. As a web analyst at Fidelity Investments, we came up with creative solutions to put their wealth management tools onto the web. Most recently, as a small creative business owner, I built my own website and learned the ropes of marketing, search engines and the importance of having the right tools to manage a business of one.
As a web designer, I understand your website needs to be more than just another pretty page on the internet. It should perform as a valued employee - working to collect leads, share your service offerings and establish you as the go-to expert in your field. A strategically designed website can highlight your past work, book appointments and sell your products or services and we can get it done with easy to manage tools like Squarespace, Mailchimp, Acuity & Dubsado.
On the blog, you'll find me sharing my personal small business experiences in a way that I helps you in yours. You'll find me sharing information on SEO, Social Media and Technology. These are the tips and tricks I've learned over the years through direct experience and tech industry research. I hope these posts help you get back to doing what you do best - your small business.
And if you need a bit more hands on help with things like getting your Squarespace website or Mailchimp newsletter setup, I do offer "get this thing started" help - schedule a Design Strategy session and we can get you going!
Already started your website and now find yourself stuck? Don't worry, I can help with that too!
On a personal note, I love...
- cheering my kiddoes as they take on the world
- arranging flowers cut from my yard
- snuggling my Australian Labradoodles Lily Mae & Penny Mae
- sewing up whatever random project grabs my eye
- puzzles and movies (but not at the same time!)
- going on dates with Mr. Briggs
- catching Broadway shows with my college BFF
- drastic haircuts (you'll note the variety of 'dos in my photos...)
You'll find flowers, sewing projects, dogs, family, chicken coops, some business-y stuff and more...
Thank you for reading and I hope you find something here that makes the business of your small business easier for you!
And I guess I'll share some things I don't love...
- allergy season.
- junk mail.
After raising a litter of Australian Labradoodles - add Puppy Mess to my "don't love" list.
